The cities of Derry and Limerick have signaled an interest in exploring opportunities to attract, support, and retain digital technology businesses into their region as a means to strengthen their local economy. This study will examine digital technology business opportunities in peripheral regions with specific focus on Derry and Limerick. The study will begin with a scoping phase of the cities existing entrepreneurial ecosystem. Furthermore, the interests and desires, of city stakeholders, for the future, will be explored. The aim of the study is to assess the capability needs within each city and develop a readiness framework in order to clarify the existing strengths that can be leveraged and the areas that need further work in order to develop a supportive entrepreneurial ecosystem in peripheral regions.
